when to use weapon sets.. - Guild Wars Forums

well, i recently starting weapon switching and switching between enchantment and 40/40 mods depending on which spells im casting is actually working really well
only problem is i see people saying that its handy to have a +30 health set and a 15/-1 set, but when i tried the 15/-1 weapon set i couldnt see a way for it to work effectively, because if i used it when i was on low energy, i'd end up draining that energy, which would put me out of the battle even longer waiting for my energy to recharge
also, im guessing +30 is for when you need to kite?
any explanations on when to use these is greatly appreciated,

15/-1 set is for emergencies only. If you have to stay in it for any legnth of time, youre done. Use it mainly to switch too, cast, then switch back for a faster energy regen.

And yes the +30 shield/sword set is for kiting/general defenseive set.

would it be wise to use a focus and a spear with 30hp mods and 15/-1 inscriptions?

no. The shield will grat you half the armor, even if you dont meet any of the requirements. add a +10 vs "X" armor mod to it and youre getting an armor bonus of 18 to your character, so this is why people tend to use the shield over a focus item/sword/axe/spear combo.

As far as the 15/-1 sets go, one is that you cant get a 15/-1 on a spear. next, the secondary mod isnt as important because youre going to want to just jump into the set, cast, then jump right out of it to get back to your full energy regen.

just run the shield for normal use, the energy from focus are just there as batteries, you switch to em when you need the energy from it, otherwise stay on your lowest energy set high armor set unless you need the skill recharge / casting time benefits

enjoy weapon swapping its a blessing
